The Philosophical Tasting Pilgrim

I had better change my name for this story into the Phylosophical Pilgrim. Went into the dining room as the Tasty Pilgrim and found a seat at a table. Shared the meal with two Spaniards and a Frenchman. Bruno the Frenchman turned out to be a chef in a famous restaurant in St Malo in Britany. First we had that Basque vergetable soup and bread. Wonderful to kill the first hunger. Then we had a special from the region. Rice cooked with some vegetables and chicken. This is cooled down and made into a sausage form that you keep in the fridge. You then slice it and pour a special tomatoe sauce over it. A real delicacy. It was followed with a bowl of salad that you mix yourself with olive oil and vinegar. A large plate with pigs trotters and baked potatoes was then put on the table. Not my thing really, so I asked the kind lady for a platter with fish. The most delicious tasting fish lightly baked in batter and olive oil was specially made for me.

This was what I had come for !!!!! I asked the lady to give my compliments to the chef. It hardly ever happens so the chef came to the table and we had a chat. She got us another bottle of wine, great ! There is a nice expression: if the wine is in the man, wisdom is in the caraf. After a few glasses of wine, my table guests became deep thinkers. You see in Spain and in France you have Philosophy in your curriculum at school. Is life peredestined or is life a game of roulette ? ! You tell me, or better, they did. Very nice sometimes I was the translater between the Frenchman and the two Spaniards. Next time I should go to Lourdes the Bruna, French guy advised me. The women there are so beautiful and looking for an adventure. Then we got into medieval philosophy that everything is earth wind and fire and water. It turned out that the sign of the Zodiac of each of us, was indeed the four elements. Well now you see why it is important to take the Camino in your own tempo. Only then will you meet extra ordinary people. Just before writing this story I got into conversation with a couple from Majorca. She introduced herself by stating she was born in Malaysia. This got us into my travels in Indonesia. Anyway another I invitation to spend a holiday, but now on the island of Majorca. So I had a nice dinner and a deep conversation.

Time to go to bed now. Tomorrow I wil walk to Pamplona, the first big city.

The Pholosophical Tasting Pilgrim.
