Pilgrims in the Mist

I had wanted to write a cilinairy story of the delicious dinner we had at L´esprit, but it will have to wait till later. You see I am now at an internet machine with limited time of use. There is a line of people waiting behind me for the internet.

Today is Friday and we walked over the Pyreneees mountains. I left at a quater to eight and walked the path over the mountain ridge in ten hours. Unfortunately we walked in mist. The first half hour you have to get used climbing on and on and on and on..... After two hours we stopped at a small place for a coffee. I stayed there half an hour and felt okay. We walked with a group from the refugio, but I kept my own tempo. No use waiting for others to catch up. On the way we had some interesting conversations. There is a pilgrim who is a photographer by profession. Hopefuly I will have a bunch of photos from my adventure with real quality. After five hours we came to the border with Spain. There is a fountain and I could fill the water bottle. Last time I had snow here but now only mist. At last we came to the top and suddenly we walked in sunshine. onderful panoramas and we had some eagles over head. We passed some ponies that freely walked about. But then we also saw some remains of dead animals. They must have perished in the awful winter. verywhere I look there are traces of wild boar !!!!! I even made a photo of a hut from which you can spy the hills. The other chap who is traveling with us, originally comes from Poland. Then I met a man from Iran who now lives in Andalucia. He is muslim and had done the pelgrimage to Mecca, but did not enjoy it at all. Now he is on the Camino for the fifth time. As far as I could understand he is now half Catholic. Strange things happen here. At four in the afternoon I arrived at the cloisters of Roncevalles. I sleep in a large hangar with 140 beds. We have already made reservations for dinner. I have to close now as others are pushing to have a go.
Tomorrow I am in a place and take time to create a longer message. See  you around.

The Tasty Pilgrim
